Hi, maybe I can help some, I graduated a few years ago from UNCG and can answer some questions for you. A lot of it depends on what year your daughter is, some dorms are for certain classes, like freshman only, upper class, etc. When I was there the big place to be was the Quad, which is made up on Cotten, Coit, Gray, Shaw, Hinshaw, Bailey, and Jamison. That was were a lot of the sorority and fraternity people lived, but I wasn't fond of them because they don't have AC and it can get pretty hot and stuffy in those dorms when it warms up. A lot of my friends lived in Tower Village because you you get your own private bedroom and shared a living room and kitchen with 3 other roommates. Since I left I know they completed the Spring Garden Apartments, which I've heard are really nice and are the most updated and new living arrangements on campus. I'm sure you've checked out the housing and residence life page on UNCG's website, but they do have a very nice tool to compare the dorms on campus that would probably be pretty useful. It lists all the dorms and then shows what amenities they do/don't have, what classes live there, whether or not they are coed. These would be things your daughter would want to think about in order to figure out which dorm would fit her best. If you have any more questions I would be more than happy to help. Hope this helps some! |

Does your daughter care about co-ed living or would she rather be with all girls? |

Do parents or freshman have a say at what dorm they stay in? I don't remember this when I was in school. You was just happy that there was a spot for you. |

When I started there back in 01' you did, but you had to put down a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice because they can't guarantee you a spot in your 1st choice. |
